Fo Guang Shan Budha Memorial Center, Taiwan

'Some say it is a miracle, But miracles do not happen by chance.'
A chance visit to the beautiful Fo Guang Shan Buddha Memorial Center was such a beautiful experience! An oasis of calm made beautifully from the visitor's point of view. It is one of the 4 biggest Buddhist memorial centres in Taiwan and has the tallest Buddha statue which rises over 38 floors and 108 metres! The gold statue is surrounded by beautiful pagodas and statues with a backdrop of green mountains. The main prayer hall has Buddhist chanting and makes you feel at peace instantly. Old monks (men and women) work tirelessly while chit chatting and wear traditional robes and bamboo hats. They always had a smile ready but were not allowed to get photographed unfortunately. Lastly, the main complex outside was full of upmarket restaurants and coffee shops for 'entertainment' purposes!
