Khajjiar in Himachal Pradesh is a pristine sight you shouldn't miss. No wonder locals call it the mini Switzerland of India |

Khajjiar boasts of amazing natural beauty and greenery |
How: I drove down to Dalhousie. It is approximately a 10 hours drive away from Delhi (including three breaks we took enroute). My route was Delhi, Panipat, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Jalandhar, Pathankot, Dalhousie.
What: Dalhousie is a hill station in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. It also has a Cantt area. Some of the must visit spots of this Himachal area are Khajjiar, Kalatop and Chamba.

Fancy dustbins (Like the frog shaped in pic) are place everywhere |
There are ample homestays available for reasonable rate. They also serve decent and affordable meals.
We stayed at Banikhet, a few km before Dalhousie. It is less crowded, scenic and has decent stay options.
The roads are really nice and a treat to drive on. I would suggest taking regular breaks if you are travelling with kids. Paranthas and tea served at roadside dhabas are a must try.
Local restaurants are safe and serve good quality meal. The average meal for two here will be around INR 500.
